Montezuma's Revenge Hits Again

November 9th 2002 - Rabotheater Hengelo

During this evening I tried to remember how many different shows from Montezuma's Revenge I've seen already. I couldn't figure it out. Probably a lot, I think. And every show is so different than the show before. This one also! At the beginning of the show we had to get used a little bit to the new sound and the new singers. Beautiful songs, but the audience was a bit mild. This changed when the humor appeared in some of the songs. The audience became more enthusiastic. Humor always works in the eastern part of Holland :P

This was the first time we saw Tijs, Sanne and Bert performing in the group, except from their short but great performance in Tilburg (Vocal Group Festival 2002). The three 'new' gentlemen were great. It looked like they've been part of the group forever.

In every show it's always a surprise to see what they've done with the stage. The setting was as usual very simple, but multifunctional and because of that so beautiful! During the second part of the show the setting was off the stage for a while. We thought the stage was a bit empty without it.

After a short period at the beginning of the show of getting used, we both enjoyed listening to every song. I'm not very good in song titles. The X-files/StarTrek Medley was great!!! and the light effects made it look very good. Oh, and what about their Spice Girls imitation. Whether you like the Spice Girls or hate them, this song made everybody laugh! Also Hopelessly Devoted filled the theatre hall with laughter. And there was a beautiful song, I think it's called I Want You, because that line came back and back and back. It's such a pity this song is not on the cd! And I have to mention the remake of Shania Twains That Don't Impress Paul Much :P

After the show we bought the new cd of course. We listened to it as soon as we got home. That's why I know some song titles now! The first worth mentioning song is 3rd Leg/Roof Garden. This is the first song on the cd. I can't say anything bad about this song :P The second song on the cd: Where Do I Begin. This must be a high solo for Paul. Well, I can go on for a while now, if you like: If I Sing, Down By The Lazy River, I Ain't Gonna Let You Break My Heart Again, Tempted and many other beautiful songs.

The booklet in the cd gave me an overview from all of their shows. Again I tried to figure out how many different shows I've seen so far. I think my first show has been Blind Man's Dream, but I'm still not sure.well, what difference does it make :) It's fun that in the booklet the Montezuma's pay attention to their fans. With astonishment we discovered Martin was on one of the pictures! Oke, you have to take a magnifying glass to find him, but it's him, for real, haha. It's the third picture besides 'Our fans'. Martin is standing on the left, in the back of the picture. Behind him there's me, but that's something you have to imagine :P

Montezuma's Revenge, if you read this: We want to thank you for the great show!!
